Impressions: Carlton
Publication
Brief
To explore the concept of ‘place’ and convey the unique identity and qualities of a suburb through a blend of physical and emotional experiences. Place can be understood through the physical aspects related to the natural or built environment but also the mood and value driven qualities that have been constructed based on the cultural understandings, practices, and lived experiences of its inhabitants.
Outcome
The publication allows readers to experience the calm and quiet atmosphere of Carlton as evoked through elements of nature alongside the preservation of Victorian architecture. The process undertaken to create this publication combines photography and cyanotype printing to aid in the visual representation of Carlton’s cultural history and unique charm.
